What Is EmbraceRF?
EmbraceRF is a non-surgical facelift that is the combination of two treatments: FaceTite and Morpheus8, combining radiofrequency-assisted lipolysis with radiofrequency skin resurfacing. Small probes are inserted just underneath the surface of the skin, and excess fat is melted with radiofrequency energy, then suctioned away. Simultaneously, radiofrequency energy is applied to the outside of the skin for a tightening effect.
Candidates for EmbraceRF
Men and women in the 30’s to 60’s age group who are bothered by excess fat around the chin, poorly defined jawline, jowls, deep nasolabial folds and loose skin, but who are not yet candidates for a surgical facelift or neck lift surgery, are good candidates. An in-person consultation is necessary to evaluate individual candidacy.
What Is Radiofrequency Energy And How Does It Work?
Like any form of energy, RF has the capacity to produce heat—and while each brand-name application uses a slightly different technology, all work by heating the skin’s deeper layers to induce new collagen and elastin production and encourage cell turnover, helping skin become firmer, thicker and more youthful-looking.
An advantage of using RF to heat tissues, as opposed to lasers (which use higher-frequency light waves), is that the lower frequency of RF can safely penetrate to a deeper level, helping to improve skin tone and structure, even lifting tissues. Lasers for the most part work to improve the skin’s surface. Moreover, RF can safely treat more patients with different skin tones without risking permanent discoloration
How Does EmbraceRF Work?
EmbraceRF is minimally invasive radiofrequency-assisted liposuction (RFAL) procedure. EmbraceRF uses a thin cannula with an internal electrode that is inserted through a tiny incision. Attached to the cannula, but resting atop the skin, is a metal wand that features an external electrode. The radiofrequency energy heats the fat and surrounding tissues without damaging those tissues. The liquefied fat is then suctioned away via liposuction. In appropriate cases, more aggressive liposuction of the neck and chin areas are performed for the best results. RF microneedling with Morpheus8 is performed on the entire face as the last step. The RF energy that has heated the dermis layer of the skin stimulates collagen production, causing the skin to tighten, firming the area.
EmbraceRF helps address the following concerns:
- Sagging neck skin
- Jowls and sagging jawline
- Excess neck and jawline fat
Morpheus8 RF microneedling helps improve skin tone, texture, pigmentation, fine lines, and acne scarring.
Benefits Of EmbraceRF
EmbraceRF is a minimally invasive, minimal downtime, non-surgical neck lift with the means of correcting loose skin and mild excess fatty tissue, especially in the lower face and neck areas. It’s especially effective at treating:
- Skin laxity, especially at the neck and jowls
- Double chin
- Deep lines and facial folds
- Poor skin texture
EmbraceRF works at both superficial and deep layers of your skin to give you comprehensive rejuvenation. Most patients only require one treatment. Results are seen at 6-8 weeks after treatment and continue to improve for the next 6-12 months. Once final results are achieved, they are permanent.
The procedure is done with local anesthesia in the office. Additional oral sedation can be given as well. Once the area is anesthetized, a small probe is inserted underneath the skin to deliver the radiofrequency energy to the deeper layers of tissue. Another part of the handpiece is applied externally to the skin at the same time.
How Long Does An EmbraceRF Neck Tightening Procedure Take?
For neck and lower face tightening, Dr. Levin usually needs 60-90 minutes, depending on the case. The patient only requires local anesthesia and oral sedation in the form of a pill. Depending on your unique situation, the number of entry points for the thin cannula will vary.
Results Of EmbraceRF
Any fat that is liquefied and removed during the procedure is gone for good. The skin tightening improvements continue for weeks and months after treatment providing permanent results. Still, you need to remember that as we age our collagen production diminishes and we continue to lose it every year. At age 50, we’re producing 30 percent less collagen than in our young adult years. That’s why older skin sags and develops lines and wrinkles. EmbraceRF reverses this trend, but it cannot stop the ongoing decrease in collagen.
Due to your continuing decline in collagen production, we tell our patients who love their EmbraceRF results to consider repeat treatment in a few years to maintain their results.
Embrace RF Recovery
After EmbraceRF the treated areas may feel somewhat sore and swollen. We will put on a compression wrap and advise you to wear it for 4 days. After 4 days, you’ll continue to wear it at night for two weeks. You may have mild bruising, tenderness, and swelling. There maybe some numbness and/or tightness. These sensations begin to resolve quickly. Most people return to normal activities and work after 4 days, but strenuous exercise, particularly anything that raises the blood pressure to your face, will need to wait for two weeks. This is not a difficult recovery.
Is EmbraceRF Safe?
The treatments are minimally invasive and done in a sterile manner. The entry points of the thin cannula heal within just a few days. We treat patients prophylactically with antibiotics, as well as anti-inflammatory medication to minimize swelling. As with any procedure, knowledge of anatomy and experience matter most. To become an EmbraceRF provider, a practice needs to have extensive training and qualify through a rigorous process. Dr. Levin and her team have this training and we are an official EmbraceRF provider. Dr. Levin is part of an expert team that helps other physicians when they have questions and/or wish to observe the procedure.
Are EmbraceRF Treatments Painful?
We use a combination of local anesthesia, coupled with oral sedation, to keep you comfortable during your EmbraceRF session. Most people either do not require any post-procedure pain control or Tylenol for a day.
Risks Of EmbraceRF
Built-in safeguards including real-time measurements of skin temperature, impedance monitoring, power cut-off and audible feedback help ensure patient safety. Any side-effects are usually minimal and short-lived. Redness, swelling, tingling and mild muscle weakness are possible and temporary. As with all procedures, it is important to see a physician who is trained and experienced with this treatment modality.
