Shaving or waxing your body hair can take valuable time out of your busy schedule, not to mention the recurring costs. Having to constantly ensure you’re free from body hair can also add unwanted stress to your life. Dr. Flora Levin offers the GentleMax Pro™ laser hair removal system to help her patients say goodbye to unwanted body hair after just a few treatments!

How Does GentleMax Laser Hair Removal Work?

GentleMax Pro is a great laser for hair removal that combines GentleLase an Alexandrite laser and GentleYag a ND:Yag laser. GentleMax Pro is FDA approved and is considered a gold standard for Laser Hair Removal. One of the biggest complaints of previous laser hair removal systems was the pain associated with each treatment.

What makes the GentleMax system unique is that it also uses the Dynamic Cooling Device™ to keep patients comfortable during their laser hair removal. This device sprays a cooling stream of cryogen on the treatment area in between each laser pulse to provide a deep comfort for patients.

It is therefore considered to be one of the few truly painless laser hair removal devices. Another benefit is not needing the messy gel, making the treatment clean and fast.

Can the GentleMax System Be Used on All Skin Tones?

Yes! While many laser treatments cannot be used on darker skin tones, the Gentle Max System works for most skin tones, including darker ones. Before your treatment, it is recommended to visit Dr. Levin’s office for a consultation to ensure the GentleMax laser is right for your skin tone.

How Long Is Each Treatment?

The length of time for each treatment will vary depending on the size of the area. Smaller areas may take just a few minutes, while larger ones could take up to an hour. As an example, both legs can often be treated in as little as 15 to 20 minutes.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

This is one of the most common questions asked by those interested in laser hair removal. The number of treatments will vary and can depend on the areas being treated and your hair type. Typically patients require between four to six treatments to reach their desired effect.

Treatments are normally spaced out every six to eight weeks. During your consultation, the number of treatments required will be discussed to plan your schedule accordingly.

Areas That Can Be Treated

Almost any area can be treated using the GentleMax system. You may wish to have multiple areas done at once or stagger your treatment areas.

Some of the most common areas treated include:

  • Legs
  • Arms
  • Bikini area
  • Back
  • Underarms
  • Neck
  • Chest
  • Upper lip

If an area you’re interested in treating is not mentioned above, it still may be treatable. Contact our office to schedule a consultation with our team.

Do I Need to Prepare for Treatment?

Yes! There are a few things to avoid before your treatment such as plucking, tweezing, and waxing. These should be avoided for roughly six weeks before undergoing laser hair removal. Your skin should be shaved and free from any self-tanners or lotion on the day of your treatment. After your treatment, you should avoid sun exposure and scrubbing the area for the first several days.
